Heat exchangers are key components of all types of electric power plants including renewables (concentrated solar thermal) thermoelectric and nuclear. Its main function is to modify the water temperature of the reactor or the steam generator to increase the efficiency of the generation.
The failure of the heat exchanger has a significant impact on the plant operation, reducing the energy generated, or even worse, producing an unexpected stop of the process. In some conditions, the failure can put at risk human beings and the environment.
For this reason, HX-Plus will develop a software tool to manage the life and monitoring heat exchangers.
