Development of a low-cost condition monitoring system based on acoustic emissions for rotating machinery failure detection of offshore wind turbines.

PredictEA Project seeks to develop a condition monitoring system for the detection of failures in offshore wind turbine drivetrains by using the novel acoustic emission technique.

This system can be installed in parallel with widespread vibration analysis systems and will increase significantly the probability of detection at an early stage and increase the availivility of offshore wind turbines.

The system will allow an efficient maintenance planning and will reduce the breakdown periods due to drivetrain failures.
